So, my TOB that's been going out for about a month finally decided to take a dump tonight. It sounds absolutely horrible, but I won't have the time for a friend and I to replace it for a few days. The sound is on and off, and I've heard it won't do any damage to the actual clutch/transmission, just an annoying sound. Is this true? Would I be able to drive to and from work and everything with it the way it is?

If the throwout bearing is frozen, it will put friction on the clutch fork and pressure plate. You will likely have to replace both if they are damaged too badly. Depending on how badly the throwout bearing has failed, you might have a hard time getting the clutch in and out of gear. In my case, I found that the clutch wouldn't engage evenly causing it to chatter when I put it in gear. This can wear the clutch unevenly.

Goes in and out of gears flawlessly, just makes a hell of a sound doing it! I notice you just went through the replacement process. I can't wait to do it.
One thing I've noticed is that at times, the pedal feels pretty crappy while being depressed or released. Other times it's smooth as silk.Do you plan on upgrading and putting in a clutch kit? Just curious, nothing mentioned above about future mods. On topic though, Ive seen freinds drive with the TOB's making quite a bit of racket for months after symptoms became obvious. What clutch are you running now?

Planned on doing a clutch swap soon, just not this soon. I'm running on the stock clutch right now, with no real plans to make any serious power for awhile. I'm planning on just dropping the tranny, and checking out the condition of the clutch assembly and flywheel while I'm in there. Worst comes to worst, overnight a new clutch kit from Summit and call it a day.
If you plan to do a clutch at some point soon anyhow, why not order it now and save some shipping money. If you dont need the new PP and disk, you can shelf them until you do. You will probably want to replace the stuff for the sake of doing so.
