I have a center force dual friction pressure plate and a centerforce dfx disc in my '95 gt. Ive had this clutch for 6000 miles and im ready for throwout bearing number 3. I started with a centerforce bearing when I installed the clutch...that made it 2000 miles, I pulled the tranny and put in a o.e.m ford bearing...that made it 4000 miles. The clutch has always been adjusted properly, the fork, the pivot ball, and the retainer are all brand new. I had a dual friction clutch in my '92 lx with a center force bearing and drove/raced it 30k without a problem. Anyone have any luck with a good bearing? Im really sick of using my stall after hours to keep on changing these things out!

Hmmmm... It sounds to me like you have some other issue that causing all of these bearings to go south.

How is your bearing retainer? Is it the stock aluminum piece or has it been replaced with one made of steel?

As far as bearing quality goes... The OEM is your best bet. Regardless of brand though, there's no way you should be going through 3 separate bearings in 6000 miles unless some other issue exists that's causing the malfunction.

I have a brand new steel bearing retainer on it from summit racing. When I pulled the tranny the first time I checked every component for uneven or premature wear and all was good. I know that doesn't mean I wont find anything this time, but because all was well down there last time this is throwing me for a loop

You may want to consider calling around for a place that can check the balance of your flywheel and clutch assembly.

If that's the issue and it's that far out of whack though, you should have been able to feel at least some vibration while going down the road.

Who installed your bearing retainer? What the installation checked for proper end play?

When your clutch was properly adjusted, was there adequate cable tension to keep the bearing spinning and flat against the clutch? Are you getting full clutch release? How much does your clutch fork move up and down when the car is running?

I have no vibrations but you did hit something that was not checked while adjusting the clutch! I have always adjusted clutches by amount of pedal freeplay and friction point. I never before have made sure the bearing was spinning flate against the p.p.! As for the bearing retainer I installed it, endplay was checked and within specs(the t-5 has a 165k on it)

what is it doing that you know the throwout bearing is going bad? Is it making a lot of noise?

Do you have the TB installed correct on the fork.
