Throwout Bearing

After finally fixing the car and taking it for a test drive, 9 months since its been out, ive noticed that there is a whirring sound when im driving but disappears when the clutch is pressed in.
IIRC typical symptom of a throwout bearing is when the clutch pedal is pressed in there is a whirring sound.

I can put very little pressure on the clutch pedal and the noise will disappear should I just preload the clutch pedal a little?

Or will I have adverse effect if I just let this whirring sound continue on and on.

I have the same problem on my car and I just changed my throwout bearing. It is still going on even after I changed it. Most people still think it is the throwout bearing

The throwout bearing is a very common failure. Many models are made very cheaply and go out only after a very short period of time. Another thing to look at is the throwout bearing retainer on the front of the transmission. If you continually lose throwout bearings the bearing retainer may have been damaged.

I have yet to change the throwout bearing not many miles on it or the tranny only about 40k (not alot to me).

If i push down on the clutch pedal with my pinky i am able to stop the whirrling/clinking noise. If that happens anyone. I stop pushing once i feel the clutch pedal get suddenly stiffer, and the sound dissappears

Either the TOB is bad or the fork or the pivot ball or the the front collar is no good. What you can try is to put more freeplay in your pedal. I had the same problem and I put more freplay in the pedal by adjusting the cable and my noise went awat. I had already replaced all the above once and the noise came back after a while. One more thing stupid question what is IIRC mean. I have seen it alot. Just curious.

freeplay? you mean loosen the clutch cable?
