this is my third expericence with these ****ty throwout bearings.

When I aquired my cobra it had a minor squeek but nothing too bad i Finally got arround to doing it and found out some cheap clutch was installed.

So i went to summit and bought a ford racing clutch with a OEM ford stamped bearing. Well this piece of **** Is squealing louder than that cheap china bearing at only 1500 miles of use.

My friends cobra has just finally locked down. The entire bearing is locked up and it makes such a bad noise when u push the clutch in... Leaving the car basically undriveable.

Is there a quality aftermarket bearing that can be used? I saw a centerforce throwout bearing?

I've only heard of people having problems with TOB's. No "good" one that I know of. I just live with the noise ... one day it will disintegrate and then I'll replace mine.

the problem is NOT always the TOB, it could be a difference in the stack height of the clutch, try an aftermarket clutch adjuster like the firewall adjuster from UPR

also check the snout on the trans for any wear or breaks and dont forget to lube it

I got a Timken TOB from Autozone. SO much better constructed than the OEM Ford TOB. Cost me ~$24 with tax and it looks to be definitely worth it.

Timken part # 614014.

Stock TOB is on the left, Timken is on the right. The Timken has a plastic-like material on the fork side, and a thinner lip on the pressure plate finger side (as you can see). It has a tighter tolerance on the bearings - the Ford part wiggles a bit while the Timken piece is very tight.
