Thumper heads vs Aftermarket Heads..

depends on the power that your looking to make down the line.

EXACTLY!!!!!!! I threw down a little over a grand for a Thumper combo package(Heads with double valve spring upgrade, B cam, Timing chain, plus shipping to the west coast and a core charge) only to decide shortly after I received everything that what I really wanted was some AFR's and a custom cam. I just sold the unused combo for 650 a few months ago to a friend. So, because my plans changed, I ate 400 bucks. Plan ahead and stick to the plan. Don't back track. Back-tracking sucks ass.

I've always been a fan of the thumper heads personally.... My biggest question was should I step up to the next level now or just go with these. One day I will stroke the bottom end, but that is hopefully a year or two off. At this point, I'm leaning more towards thumper heads, heck I can always throw them on my bronco when I decided to beef the pony up :) Good point also about getting the power to the ground...I'm in the process of working the suspension too: replacing the stocker control arms, sub frame connectors, and different struts/shocks, etc.. I know I'm leaving a lot of time on the track right now (i.e. 2.4 60') since it won't hook. I wouldn't even be in this dilemma had I not found the dreaded oil in my radiator (note: haven't done any compression tests yet). I do appreciate everyone's comments though and if I was building a high hp, high rev motor now, then yes I'd definitely go AFR's but I've got a ways to go for that....Larrry
