Different question. I took front wheels off and sprayed lubricant on all joints, including the spring perches, joints, etc.
Took for a drive and creaks were gone but when going over small bumps, like RR crossing hear thumps like when it is real cold, like freezing and feels like tires are square and everything is stiff. Car runs smooth on good road at 45, 55 and higher. When I push down on front fender no sounds and seems shocks do not bounce or thump, seem smooth.
Could it be springs, shocks or what?

How are your strut rod bushings, bump stops and other soft suspension parts?

I am guessing pretty old if not original. 71 Mach1.
Taking to someone to check out the front suspension tomorrow.

Front sway bar bushings that are worn out will cause that.

Sway bar body or end link bushings would be the cheapest answer. Having the whole suspension inspected at this point is a good idea.

Thank you.
I took it in and was told first replace the upper control arms, strut rod bushings and coil spring seats (coil da spring perch).
There is more but can't afford at this time. Like someone mentioned the whole front suspension parts could be replaced.

A friend’s 68 got that kind of health report back in high school. The good news is it rode and steered much better afterwards besides being safer. Sorry it was not the cheap answer.

Wondering what everyone thinks. I have a labor estimate to replace both upper control arms $530. If I want the coil spring Seats replaced as well the labor additional cost is $130.
