k. heres the deal. i have a already converted 4 to 8 cyl 90' notch. problem is, it has a carb'd lincoln town car non ho moter in it, with a rod knock. i have a complete running 92' thunderbird sport with a 5.0 ho motor in it. it runs, it has a bad trans, which is fine, because i plan to the the 5spd that is already in the mustang. now my question is can somone list exactly what is different between the 92 thunderbird 5.0 and a 89-93 5.0? the intake looks a little different. (sn95 style). the accessories are also assorted different, which i will change over to the mustang arrangement to run an ac/smog delete. what i am looking for is mostly what i can expect, wiring problems, since i intend to keep it efi.. that sort of thing..

thanks guys.

oh and by the way. the 5spd trans already in the car is an 8cyl trans. if i use that trans and bellhousing for the non sn95 style engine it shoul work correct? it is going into a fox, therefor isnt needed to be longer so, the trans and belhousing from a fox should be used with an sn95 style engine with no problem as long as it is going in a fox correct?

if you plan on using fuel injection with that tbird motor in your mustang , youre gonna have to find the wiring harness for a fuel injected v8 stang. im pretty sure the tbird harness wont work. distributors are different from a tbird and a mustang also v8 wise i think. if your stang was setup for running a carb it would be cheaper to convert the tbird motor to a carb setup. thats just my thoughts .

may i ask your thought on why the bird harness wont work? i am planning to keep the 2 cars seperate so to speak. everythng the bird motor needs to run, and all the chassis stuff, lights, locks seperate. im not worried about guages. exc. aftermarket for those. the thunderbird is already in running condition.

ok. if your 90 was already setup to run with a carb i'd stay that way. its gonna cost you more to turn it into an efi to run the v8. gonna need a whole different harness for a v8 stang, computer, distributor, electric fuel pump ( if its still in the tank and run with a regulator for the carb setup, needs to be swapped out) and some other little things. if it was me i'd stay carb. unless you want to turn it into efi, thats your choice.

i did kinda want to keep it efi. the main thing is, that moter will work with the bellhousing, and trans already in the car correct? the blocks are all the same right? i mean it has a town car engine in it now...

forgot also, you'll need to swap your accessory brackets from the lincoln motor over to the tbird motor. the tbirds use a different setup. just use your old alt., pulleys and power steering pump from the lincoln engine in the mustang. theres some more things i cant think of right now but i'll post it up if i remember:nice:

i actually have all the acessories and brackets off of a gt motor complete with smog, and ac delete.

i just cant think of a main reason why i cant have a computer/efi harness out of the bird, and a seperate mustang harness for lights door locks, windows, sterio, exc. i mean they are both neg. grounds. im not trying to mix wires with wires that are in the car already.

basically i wanted to make kind of a stand alone harness, and only use the harnesses out of the bird that make it run. the bare min. out of the bird. a few power wires, a couple grounds, and fuel. just what it needs to make the engine run.

you could try and do it that way. never done anything like that before, i usually just get the right harness for the type of car and then wont have to worry about guessing at stuff lol. have no clue if the computer will throw fits or not.

ok. 2 more q's that i can think of right now..

i guess i could always try the bird harness first and see what happens to save a lil money. but... if it does not work will a 89-93 harness plug right in or witll it have to be the sn95 style? will any just plug right in?

and 2.. because it is an sn95 style engine... does this mean it has a 3g alt in it? because i do plan on throwing in a mark viii fan i have lying around.

and i wanted to say thanks for all the help so far guys. i really appreciate it. this is the best site i have been on by far.:SNSign: :D
