Thunderbolt Style Hood on a coupe? anybody

does anybody have the thunderbolt style hood on maybe a 66 coup? if not that year then a year similar? everybody in my area has the cowl hood and so im looking at somethind diff. i just would like to know what it looks like on a coupe, thanks you guys.

I know it's not a coupe, but the guys at yearone have one on their 66 fastback.

What about a T-bolt style that turns into a cowl hood? I haven't seen it full scale, only in Resin for a model, but I thought it looked really cool, but I think it only looks right if the cowl extends to the windshield, so the hood couldn't use hinges, it'd have to pin on. Here's a pic as an example.

that looks wild. you would have to open the hood reverse. i think i may have fitment problems with that one though. heh

Find "Crites " on the net... they are in Oh. they do all the "t-bolt" stuff and if they dont have ones that you can glass on.. they might be able to send you to some one who does!! cool??
And your right about the look!! In the 70's when we were street racing in PB San Diego there was this 66 blue Coupe that was set up high ( the 70's style) and a 4 inch reverse bubble... It looked Killer!!

I have already decided on a reverse bubble (or teardrop) hood from Crites. I trawled through my magazine collection about a week ago and pulled out some examples of that style of hood on 65-66 Mustangs. All the examples I was able to find are fastbacks, except for one. I'll post the picture tonight.

I like the Shelby style hood but like Malcon66 I'm looking for something a little bit different. I would like to see any other pictures that you guys have as well.

I'm think about the teardrop hood, guardsman blue paint and white shelby stripes......and the Shelby front apron. Any comments or feedback would be welcome.

Log on to www.hipomustang.com and get into the members rides thread. There is one of our menbers who owns a white coupe with the t-bolt hood about 3/4 of the way down the thread- looks pretty good!

Yeah, I think so too. I have a '63 Fairlane, which is the same front end as the '64, except the grille is different, but still has the quad headlights. The '64 Fairlane grille sorta looks similar to the '64 Galaxie grille and the '63 Fairlane gille looks similar to the '63 Galaxie grille.

Anyways, I'm planning on a Crites teardrop hood for my '63, but if I could swing it, I'd like to get another to make that hood full scale.

that and one of thos 6" k&N filters may help air flow and cool it down a fraction.

hey man, i'm not sure what a "Thunderbolt" stlye scoop is, but i have a regular fiberglass scoop on my 66 coupe. I really like it and i get alot of compliments on it too. I bought it off www.mustangsunlimited.com for like, $40 or something. I put 4 bolts in it and 11 rivets, then smoothed it out with bondo. if you check out my garage, i put a picture of it on there (the pic was with my phone so its not the best quality but you can get the idea). good luck

Everyting I've heard about Crites stuff is, they're top notch. Sorta like Cervini's or HO Fibertrends quality if you've looked into any Fox or later stuff.

DB8683, the T-bolt scoop is not so much a scoop, but a teardrop shaped bump on the hood to clear hi rise intake manifolds. The point of the teardrop was towards the front and the rear had openings with screens over them that faced the rear. Sorta like a cowl induction but they were more for getting hot air and high pressure out from under the hood. The T-bolts had 4 headlights and they removed the inner headlights and ran 6" flexible tubes to an oval shaped air cleaner box that the tubes connected on the sides.
