Tie rod suggestions

I was wondering what I should do about ordering a set of tie rods. I had purchased a kit from laurel mountain mustang but the quality is crap and the sleeves wont even screw onto the tie rods properly. It's a joke and their tech support has ignored my emails and when I call they tell me that it's the wrong spindle (which I have made sure it is not).

I was looking at the TCP stuff which looks nice but it's pricey and I was wondering what everyone with stock manual V8 steering is using. Thanks.

Not sure about the TCP stuff but I got a Grab-A-Trak tie rod that didn't even have the zerk grease fitting hole tapped. Not a problem tapping it myself, just a pain in the butt. So I feel your pain about the quality of some of these aftermarket parts.

TCP is great stuff. If you already have V8 suspension on the front, that's half the battle I think. THere must be hundreds of threads on this subject (front suspension/brakes). If you just need new tie rods, the stock replacements are ok. Are you looking to do some upgrades to the suspension or brakes?

suspension is 620 coils with KYB gas adjust and brakes are 2008 Mustang GT so brakes and suspension have been upgraded. I also am running new upper and lower control arms. I ordered a set of tie rods from CJ Ponyparts. Hopefully the quality is better than these pieces from laurel mountain.

I don't recommend ever using them. Their customer support is way below average, especially accusing me of having the wrong spindles when I gave them cast numbers that said otherwise.

Moog makes quality ball joints and tie rods. People like Opentracker, Maier and possibly Mustangs Plus sells them. You may want ask what brand they (CJ) are selling.

I got bit by Laurel Mountain too. Junk control arms and spring perches.

Laurel Mountain Kits

Geez, I thought I was maybe being unreasonable for not being satisfied with my kit from Laurel. Guess I am not alone in this case. I do know that CJ pony parts charges about 20 for tie rod ends, wheras NAPA carries them, but charges 40 each for them. BTW, If your control arms squeak, the end caps on the upper arm may be too tight. A local resto-mod place helped me out with this. Loosen each side 1/4 turn, then drive. If that solves the squeak, weld flat steel against the nut to lock in place.
