Impact wrench.Maybe a strap wrench if it can hold the pulley enough.

When I`ve had to remove/install them,I just went to a local shop I sometimes go to and they zapped it off and on for free with an impact wrench.

The alternator was off the car though.

i think my nut is going as far as it can and not making contact with the pulley. is there suppose to be a washer inbetween the pulley and the shaft?

I think the 2g alternators have a washer,mine did,but the 3g I got didn`t have a washer.

Impact wrench is the fastest/easiest way.

What did you hold the pulley with?

i used the old belt. but form looking at the shaft i see the threads are about an eighth of an inch away from the pulley. the nut just stops near the end of the threads. do you know how wide the spacer was?

Can`t remember how thick the washer was,but I think the size is 7/8".

Is this the right pulley for your alternator? Is it the original pulley?

Autozone, Murray's Auto, Napa or the like can take off and install your alt pulley for free if you take it to them and ask.
