Ok I have had the car almost 2 years and now its time to get her lowered. I don't want to drop her too much seeing as I don't want to bottom out everywhere. I was looking at BBK Progressive Rate Lowering springs or Ford Racing C springs. I will also get the Bilstein Shocks and struts to go with them. What do you guys think? After this I will save for 3.73s and a Vortech SQ kit, that will be next years mods. Oh, one other question, what are the largest tires I can run on my stock 17x8s? I was thinking 265s or 275s?

he's somewhat right, if you get "racing" springs that improve handling, it hinders weight transfer when launching your car at the track. But you can always get drag racing springs, so lower doesnt automatically = bad weight transfer

I had H&R supersports (1.8 inch drop), & I never bottomed out at all. I now have coilovers in the front & H&R's with adjustable lca's in the rear, & my car is lowered at least 2 1/4 inches all the way around, & still no bottoming out. I figured if Im gonna lower my car, I want it to look lowered. C springs dont drop u very much, nor do BBK's, & as long as you get some bilsteins, u wont have to worry about bottoming out.

Heres a H&R super sport drop

Thanks:D U should get the H&R's & your drop will look like the one in the 1st 2 pics. I dont think I ever bottomed out once. My only experience lowering my car only 1 1/2 inches, like the BBKs do, I was extremely dissapointed, & ended up buying springs again. & C springs will barely lower the car @ all, & they rake it out alot. Good luck

If you lower and track launches are really that big of an issue you can always install an airbag in the spring to stiffen it on launch.

I am glad to hear of someone actually pairing dampers with springs when lowering instead of just throwing springs on there and hoping for the best with the stock dampers.

I learned to do it right the 1st time, cuz stock dampers suck even with factory springs. Even my lowered 86 jetta doesnt have stock dampers. A freind of mine has an 03 Mach in which he installed BBk springs & also cut a coil or 2 off. He installed these with the stock Tokicos, which wore out pretty fast, & his car would bounce so much, it damn near lifted off the ground on bumpy roads.

I was talking about GT dampers. Terminators come with Bilsteins. I have no idea exactly which Bilsteins. Probably some Bilstein factory seconds that Ford got a good deal on or something...

Oh!!! I remember when I first got my 97 Cobra with 88k miles the original dampers were softer than hell & shot, so Bilsteins was the 1st thing I bought. The Mach 1 tokicos were actually pretty good when i purchased the Mach @ 30k, but i already had bilstiens waiting from the Cobra, so i swapped them out. the kid that bought the 97 Cobra probably has some clapped out tokico's by now, since it had lowering springs on it. The Bilsteins still feel new after 15k miles (8k on the Cobra & 7k on the Mach)

eibach pro kit would be perfect (1.5") :nice: . and yea 275's on the tires

Where did you buy the bilstiens? That will be coming up soon for me, not changing the springs, but gonna throw some bilstiens on. Anyone know the diff between the regular and the HDs?

The HD's are the regulars I beleive, & the sports are the high end ones. The HD's are what I, & most people run & they feel good 2 me. Ive heard the sports are too stiff for daily driving. I got mine on Ebay for around $500

Here are some on Ebay right now.
