How does the Steeda Timing Adjuster for the 4.6 work?
Can you adjust timing with out it? (tuner/programer excluded)
I have seen advertised a timing adjuster for 99$, is this piece different from the Steeda piece?

To be honest with you, I have the steeda timing adjuster. I wish I wouldn't have ever got it. I wish I would have just saved my money for a tuner, and had a couple of different tunes put on it.

skip it. then you have to run premium gas all the time its going to be useless if you ever do get a dyno tune as well...

I have the Steeda timing adjuster and it works great. I prefer doing things mechanically than electronically. You can adjust your timing from 8 to 18 degrees or something like that. Stock is generally 10 degrees and upping the timing will force you to run premium fuel to avoid detonation. As far as I know, a timing adjuster/tuner is the only easy way to adjust the timing.

That being said, if you change your tire size, add cams etc., etc., you'd be better off just getting the tuner -- more options including timing adjustment.

Asking whether the timing adjuster you saw is useless without a pic. The Steeda is generally about 150 bucks and is blue colored, although you can find them on ebay for much less. I have a picture of one on my Cardomain page -- see my sig.
