timing and fuel pressure ?'s

what should i set my timing and fuel pressure at? im going to be using 87 octane for now. i believe i have stock compression ratio (9:1?) at least that is what the speed pro forged pistons are listed for. im sure the heads change it somewhat. i just got it running tonight by throwing on the maf and c&l intake pipe but i need to adjust the fpr so it will stay running with the spout out. (so i can do the timing). thanks!

The Fuel pressure should be between 36 and 48 #s. If the car is running with the spout then the car should stay running without the spout. Taking the spout out just locks the timing from the computer advancing it.

i'd heard that someone else using 30 # injectors on a 306 had to set FP at 35 #. i know that with the spout in, the computer will run somewhere between 20-30 degrees of advance at idle. with the spout out, the advance is locked to 10 degrees. since im sure its running too rich, the advance may have something to do with it, weird i know.

Stock fuel pressure is 39 psi with the vacuum line disconnected from the regulator. Sometimes people drop it with larger injectors to keep it from running as rich, your maf should take care of that problem if calibrated correctly. Stock timing is 10 degrees with the spout out. I would advance it to the point where it runs fine without pinging and set it at that.

alright, all i should have to do is get a fuel pressure gauge and set it to 39 psi then. it actually runs fine now, i just have to tune it. i discovered today that i had the distributor 1 tooth retarded, so it wouldnt run without the computer advance. also, it had almost no vacuum, and kept flooding out. but apparently, the maf and injectors are matched (as i thought) and work just dandy. :D i might up the timing to 12 later, after the beast is on the road.

I'm currently taking donations of exhaust :p
