All right guys I advanced my timing to 14 degrees. My neighbor has a timing light and he is a mechanic and he showed me how to do it, but he also warned me that it will run hot and might burn a piston.
But my question is this: it seems most people have there stock 5.0 set to 14 degrees, that is where it is now. Well at WOT it pings, but you let off just a hair and it stops. Should I set it lower, or wait until I get 93 octane in the tank and see if it still pings??? Will normal daily driving, (less than 3000 rpm) cause any damage until I can fill the tank with 93 octane gas?
Also I have a gear question. With a stock motor and 3.90 gears, what rpm's are you getting at 75mph highway driving? It seems like gears make the most difference with a stock setup, but I don't want to be pulling 3000 rpm doing 55 mph going to the grocery store.
Still new here so help me out guys. Also, I'm looking to buy new intake, exhaust, and cobra clear headlights. So if anyone is selling, or you know where I can get these cheap, let me know.
