just puting my engine back together after a rebuild just a stock on tho and im trying to put my dynagear inc timing set on but the crankshaft gear seems to be hard to put on like i can hit it with my hand hard and it wont slide on even with lube or what not...my question is do you need to pound it on (i ask because there is no way i would do that without knowing because i dotn wana mess stuff up) or did lopers sell me the wrong size? the part number is 78151 and i looked it up and it says its for the 302-351 motors...mine is curently a 289 i know the 289 and 302 are simmilar but woudl this make a diffrence?

PS. i know ive been posting on here about the 351w and i am curently rebuilding my 289 but the deal is its my daily driver and its not running so i have to build this now. my father is helping me pay for it and in 6 months i can either give him lump sum of oney it cost us to rebuild or i can give him the motor and build up my own.

Yea, a little sanding should help, just don't get too happy with it. If it still won't go, time to mic the snout and gear to see how far out of whack it is. Should be a slip fit, but not so tight it won't slide on without a hammer. Should be able to "bump" it onto the snout with a hammer at most.
