i bought my first fox mustang about a month ago. it is a 89 hatch. anyway today i went to check the timing and it shows 25 btdc!!!! i think my light might be busted because it souds unrealistic that it can run on 25* with 87 octane and not detonate. somebody please straighten this out for me. thanks in advance.

just depends...i was running 14* with 93...but ive heard of people running up to 16* on 93. you just have to figure out where your car wants to run. just turn it up and if you get detonation turn it down a degree or two and see if you get detonation.

heh, went to the dyno today, and ran 22* BTDC. don't know how it did it, but when we upped it to like 24*, it detonated really bad, I ended up adding a 76mm Pro-M MAF about an hour ago, and reduced my fuel pressure to make the car less rich, and ended up being able to drop the timing to 15*. Before the MAF I couldn't lower it unless I wanted to stall.
