Finally got a timing light and went to check my timing. I have the 10* mark on the balancer marked with a white grease pencil. I set the timing light up and aimed it at the pulley and it shows Im dead on.. but I forget to pull the SPOUT connector out when I did it. Slipped my mind.

When I realized it, I got a little confused. The timing is supposed to show when the SPOUT is diconnected correct? If its in it changes the timing and my mark should be off, if I understand how everything works correctly that is.

So my mark being on when the SPOUT is IN would indicate my timing being a little screwy?

Anyway, if anyone is able to shed a little light on this I'd appreciate it. Still trying to figure out why my truck is running like ass.

Thanks!

Check the timing with the SPOUT out, betcha you don't see near 10* at all. You want to see what the base idle is without the ECM involved, as the ECM adds in more when needed. Now after you check and set the timing with the SPOUT out, put it in and you should see the timing advance.

The timing sounds way retarded and I bet that's why your truck is runnin' like ass.

Good luck.

Ok excellent.

When I actually timed it the SPOUT was out but I think the timing light I used was borked.. It wasnt firing evenly and had a hitch (which I thought was due to possible misfiring..) but my new light doesnt have any problems. Im kinda thinking the light was wrong and I timed it off from the start, and by some bizarre coincidence the mark just happened to line up with the SPOUT connected, hehe.

I'm gonna just retime the whole damn thing tomarrow.

Thanks guys.
