Whats up all, I need some help on a friends 84 Mercury Cougar turbo 2.3 L. How is this motor timed ? - what do I need to do to get a accurate timing reading? And what should the timing be at? Thanks

If you do a search , youll find your answer quickly.
Quick list would be :
pull out the spout (usualy hanging right below the lower intake) while the car is off
Put the timing light on it
start the car, point timing light at crank pulley, see if it lines up with 10* degree...if so , its in time.
if not, loosten on the distrubter holder and twist the dizzy until that timing mark is lined up.
turn car off, plug spout in, enjoy.

I found the spout and timed the bizach, The spout did not look like the one I am use to (5.0), I dont work on this 4 cyl junk to often thats why I asked, And I did do a search first and did not come up with anything. Originaly That kind of sounded like a newbe question but I am not new to timing 5.0's
