Ever since I've put my Performer 5.0 intake on, my car will either pop like a mofo under acceleration, or buck really badly at cruising speeds. I used an adjustable timing light and set it to 14* and it poped really badly, so at my house I advaced it, ended up being 24*, and it didnt pop at all but it would buck really badly around 40-50mph in 5th gear.

Is it possible for the balancer to spin out causing you to get a false reading? Right now I got it set to where it pops a few times when accelerating and cruises normally. Would the timing do this to our cars? I'm going to be getting a new balancer soon but until then I still want my car to run how it should. Any other suggestions on what can fix my problems are welcome. Fuel pressure is at 30psi idle, 40psi acceleration. Mods are in my sig if they matter... Also just put on brand new plugs are wires

I don't know how you are setting the fuel pressure, if you set it at idle with vacuum off i would say that you need to set it at around 38#, and just leave it be. advancing you timing that much could be very harmfull. If you have a bad balancer, it could spin and throw the timing off check it go drive and see if it has changed.

we hooked up a fuel pressure gauge to my car and it was reading 30psi and 40psi on the stock regulator. The balancer is the stock 120k mile one so it probably has spun giving me a false reading.
