After I have put in my new motor with a trickflow intake and trickflow stage 1 cam and the heads have a little bit of porting to them but not much it hasnt semmed any stronger. Well my dad set the timing at 6 degrees instead of 10. When I set the timing back at ten yall think it will feel any stronger?

It'll feel a little stronger off the line but not a whole lot, I do have a question though, what's the rest of the combo? those heads are not helping, and if you're still running the factory throttle body and MAF you wasted your money.
That intake and cam can't do anything for you if they don't get enough air and the factory MAF and throttle body are chocking the heck out of it. Besides if you really want to feel like you've accomplished something you should have spent your first pile of cash on a decent set of gears.

damn man... you kind of ripped on him there.

To answer your question, i would say yes... and i wouldn't stop at 10. Back when i first started working on 5.0's i would set them at 14, but i'd run 93 octane too.

He is right about the TB and MAF comment though, they should be on the list... and the stock heads just cant do much with that cam. if it will be a while before you're gonna have the funds for heads (something i know all too much about) then timing at 12 and a good AFPR will bring up the power a little. (actually from 6 to 12 would be a nice increase) but why did he set it at 6? of course the spout connector was out, but was it beacuse the cam doesn't want to idle smoothly at 10-12? sometimes our computers dont like the lift... good luck

lol yeah he did....:rlaugh:

but he is right in the sense that the cam/intake is being choked by the heads. It's ok for now, but the heads are the biggest bottleneck in the stock system, right next to the crappy lower intake.

Get some new heads first, then worry about the maf/TB. They aren't hurting your combo right now, but the heads are.

I plan on getting gears, shift kit, underdrive pullies, and throttle body as I get the money for them. I know I need heads but I didnt have the money for them but I still went ahead and put the cam and intake on while the motor was out. First I have to worry about the transmission though because its slipping and leaking.

With the stock heads in place

A larger tb & maf won't do much for you

I did not say they they won't give a gain
but
IMHO, not worth it at this time

I did not see gears in your sig

If thats the case, you'd have tons more fun with some gears instead of a tb/maf

One more thing to think about concerning a maf at this time.

Unless you go with a C&L meter

ProM with your current combo (now 19's) will mean double cost cause you will need to move up in inj size with the new stuff so a maf recal will be needed.

If going with ProM maf wait until larger inj's or go to 24's now along with the 24lb caled maf.
