warm the motor up. pull the spout - it is a little two terminal plug. find the wiring that goes to the TFI (the module on the side of the dizzy). trace the wires toward the motor. about 6 inches up you will find two wires that have a plug. pull the plug (spout).

paint or marker in the timing marks. i would mark 10*. i like to use those silver sharpie markers. some use white out.
hook up. put the inductive lead on plug one. hook red aligator to pos battery, blk to neg batt cable.
start it and pull the trigger. there is one small bolt that holds the dizzy. if you need to move the timing, loosen the bolt (i use a swivel joint and two extensions - all 1/4 inch). move the dizzy till you are at where you want (normally 10-15* - there is no magic number since each car is different).

tighten hold down bolt. replace spout.
good luck.

PS if you advance timing and EVER hear pinging, back timing off or run higher octane.

You point that blinking light at your damper and look the timing marks on it. It will show your marks you made, unless your timing is way off, which means you'll need to get those marks closer to the little pointer that indicates your timing.

no offense, but a repair manual is some of the best money you can spend. we all use them. it is easy to forget stuff, torque specs are nice, and so on. it will really help you with stuff like this.

good luck.
