timing

i was trying to set my timing on my 1992 mustang gt auto, with my dads gun...i used the 1st cyclinder plug and hooked it put to the battery..but on the crank pulley i cant see any degree markings..am i doing this correctly..is there markings down on the crank....or did the kid before me set the timing so far...what is stock timing..i think i need some detail instructions on adjusting timing..maybe with pics...

10* is stock. you will likely need to get under and clean the balancer off. then use paint or a silver marker (what i use) to note the timing marks you want (i fill in the 10* line and 14* also).

then remove the SPOUT connector (the little chip that is on a two wire harness, which is about 6" up the TFI harness from the TFI).
