Tinted Windows, . . .Yay or Ghey?

Tint the darker the better I have 35% on all my cars and have not had a problem yet. If you getpulled over roll down the windows and the cops dont care at least aroun here anyway.

That trick doesn't work well in the dead of winter. Cops might be a little suspicious about someone with both windows down in freezing temperatures. :D

Old guy #3. I like tint on the right car, but mine ain't it. Old gf back in the day bought me those dark tinted GTS headlight covers. Couldn't see chit at night, and they went in the trash. My buddy's tint job looked the same. I'm to old to be concerned with looking cool, at the expense of utility. I want function, and the windows work fine.

From the back doors back on my Jeep are limo tint..you can't see through them from the outside unless one of the front doors are open to let light in...it does suck ass trying to back you, so you've gotta rely on the side views for backing up. It's tricky but you get used to it...kinda like if you've ever driven a van or a truck with a cap where you couldn't see good through the back windows. I think on most cars, having just enough tint so you can't make out the face of who's driving is just enough...you can still tell someone's in there but not clearly. When you go full limo all around on a car it just looks overdone IMO.

I agree it must be on the right car with the right paint. I have it on my Notch that has a darker red color, with Cobra R wheels. It made the car look so much better, plus living in Florida I didn't have to crank the A/C up all the way. (I'm always scared to take it to the highest level for so reason.) I did the legal stuff. But on my 7-UP 5.0 with the white top I wouldn't think to tint it. Plus its driven once a week at the most and the top is always down. But tint does improve the look on the right car, and will always improve the temp in the car.

i used to tint windows in my teen years and i remember putting 3 sheets of limo tint on my 87 mustang gt all the way around except for the windshield .i remember going to an audio car show and the car was parked in the street and people were commenting on how dark the windows were.you literally could not see inside with your face up against the glass.needless to say i was very paranoid about getting pulled over by the cops.

What really sucks is here in AZ, they only allow a max of about 35% on the sides of the front windows, but any % on the side-rears, quarters, or back window. So unless you go 35% all the way around or like dodging cops all the time, you have no choice but to do the two-tone tint thing. :notnice:

What's worse, 35% really doesn't help a whole lot as far as cutting down the amount of heat that bakes your interior. I had 35% on the sides of the Turdbird when I first got it, and I still felt like a french fry under a heat lamp whenever I drove to work - felt no different with the window up or down. It was all wavy and blurry, and made it hard to see when looking over my shoulder to change lanes and such, so I peeled that crap off pronto.

Tint looks nice, yeah, but it can be a royal pain unless it's super-duper quality tint (not wavy) and it's not too dark. That super-dark 5% or 2% limo tint is only good for the side and rear windows on a shaggin' wagon (van, SUV, or pickup with a shell) when you don't want people to look in and see why the vehicle is bouncing. :D

Tint is a must, i had mine re-done last summer to 35%.I had 20% all around but the cops seemed to think it was too dark so they gave me a warning to remove it.I didn't and got caught 1 yr later by the SAME cop!! :bang: Heres a pic of 35%....

Tint makes any car look better.

But i can't stand limo tint. Why do you need your windows so black even YOU have a tough time looking out?

15% tint is about the max i would go, but there are guys on the G35 boards I am on who do double layers of 3% tint and 35% tint on the windshield! That's just unnecessary and unsafe!!

glowstang93 and MahFiVeOh nice wheels! not sure what my windows are i think about 30 or 35%? my back one has a slight mirror affect to it.i want to get them all redone except the rear one and also do my 4 bangers windows. but what does everyone think of the 1/2 black 1/2 chrome tint :nice:!or the black with all the sparkles in it:nice:! peace

Thank you, but I have sold those wheels and am now sporting the original 10 holes again.. Still not sure if and when I will change them up again. Stick to regular black tint. The shadow tint looks good on imports, but no so good on a Fox.

I agree, the fade chrome to black looks rather ghey! Chrome tint in general to me looks off regardless of the car.

Has anyone done their own tint that came out nice? On my first Mustang I did my own but had to use two pieces in the back which ended up giving me a seam in some places where it over lapped. I was only 15 so I'm blaming myself on a bad cut job but regardless, it doesn't seem easy.
