Since I have a few hours till I can get home and finish up my new Magnaflow H pipe install, I guess Ill ask for some tips on getting the best seal from the headers to the pipes.

First get both pipes on the headers loosely screwed on, then tighten evenly? I got my driverside on easily, but the passenger side has a leak and is hard to tighten. (I tightened the driverside fully first)

Other than that, the Magnaflow piece is very high quality. Flanges are beefy as hell, everything is just well built.

try making equal ( or as close to equal as you can get) turns on all the nuts. bring them up at the same time. or get an air ratchet

I'd also put neverseize on the studs.

Sometimes you have to be creative. Like in your instance, you might want to favor trightening the passenger side up a little more (per each time tightening both sides up a little bit) so it seats first.

Good luck.

well i typed it all and it didn't show up I'll try again. Does the magnaflow h-pipe come in 2 pieces? If so the loosen off the clap in the middle and widen it a bit. Get the passenger side and driver side flanges lined up perfectally then tighten the middle clap. Mine was like that it wasn't a magnaflow though.

Thanks for the replies guys. I got everything seated today just fine. I took the passenger side off like Hissin said and everything seated fine the second time around. Its a 1 piece part, fit just fine with a little tweaking and help from the floor jack.

Now all I have to worry about is the rotted catback behind it. Its cracked to hell

Whats the break in time on cats? How soon can I smog it?

I had to do the same when installing mine, tightened the nuts all equally and it sealed up real nice.Nicely made piece imo.
