I was trying to figure impact of treadwidth and aspect ratio on tire height when I was buying my DR's, and came up with this-

ftp://mcsuper@www.cox-internet.com/Mustang tire size calculator.xls

Could anyone let me know if this is accurate, or were my assumptions wrong?

the link was bad, but you can figure tire height by adding sidewall to rim size...for example 235/50/R15's would be 235*.5=117.5mm (the .5 is because the middle number-50-is the percentage of the first number, or section width, and .5 is 50%). There are 25.4mm in an inch so 117.5/25.4=4.63 on each side, so 4.63*2=9.26+15(rim size)=24.26 inch tide height...cool?

it is not difficult (aspect ratio is the height and is a percentage of the tire width).

do note that different tires can vary quite a bit. the lower the profile, the less sidewall bulge there is, and this affects the physical measurements. try hitting a tire shop with a ruler - i bet you find that tires of the same numeric size measure out differently.

Yount knows a ton about this stuff (his bro is in the tire business). listen to him (i bet he posts in the morning). good luck.
