Tire opinions

Hey all,
Its getting to that point where its time to replace the rubber on my 00 GT. So now its time to go tire shopping. Im looking for an all season performance tire, no drag radials or straight performance tire cause this is my only car and I need to be able to drive it in all weather. With that said what are some good all seasons that you guys have run that you like that not only perform well on the track but also well in wet and dry street conditions?

Where are you from? Lots of really cold/snowy weather?

I have the Nitto 555's, which are "summer tires", although I have never had a problem in the winter of North Carolina. This winter, it has regularly gotten down into the teens and 20s, with highs only in the 30s, and I have had no problem with them. While yes, they do perform (stickyness) way better in the summer, I haven't had a problem with them concerning safety or stopping distance in the winter.

Dry traction is great. I pulled a 2.05 60' through an auto NPI when it was 40 degrees outside with dew on the roof of the car, and that's only a 255 width. That's pretty damn impressive if you ask me. I'm sure the 275's or 295's would be even more impressive. My granddad is about to put a set of 275's (Nitto 555's) on his Mach 1; that'll be the ultimate test, and I'll report back here after I drive it with them on.

Wet traction is also great. I have never hydroplaned, and honestly, have never come close, and my car is driven in the rain quite a bit.

They are wearing really well also. I have a bit over 15,000 miles on them, with a few over 100 passes at the track, and you can't tell them apart from new.

They are also cheaper than most any other tire in it's performance range.

I guess all of this is null if you live in a really cold climate or if the car is driven in the snow.

All in all, I would highly recommend them.

I tried the Kumho ASX all season tires on my former 99 GT in hope
of getting more milage than summer tires. I didnt like them at all.
they didnt track very good on the highway, kind of wandered around.
Also they didnt last but 25k. I went right back to summer performance tires.
+ 1 on the Nitto 555's.

Most Mustang drivers run BFG for all season performance use KDW or KDWS.

Im from jersey so the Nitto 555's are kinda out because we do have mild winters, not tons of snow but at times still need to be able to drive in it so I am looking for a more all season. I was looking into the KDW's which seem like a really great tire, just looking to see what other suggestions you guys might have.

guy at work runs the new goodyear eagle gt's. he seems to like them in the snow.

The Eagle GT look like a good tire for the price I like them.

I like these better though I have them now and they are also stock on the 2009 Bullitt:

Thats actually what I have on there now and to be honest not the biggest fan of them. Right now im looking into the Eagal Gts, Firestone Firehawk, and BFG G Force Sport, and the Bridgestone Potenza G019 Grid

No, I'm from the Northern Pennsylvania mountains (near the PA grand canyon). We have winter.

Gotcha, and I agree. My point was that it has been cold enough here that the temperature should have affected these "summer" tires (the Nittos), yet I haven't had any negative effects.

Of course, in the snow, I'm sure the Nitto's fail miserably.

+1 for the Nitto's trip. 5's. Just bought new set bout week ago. ($$$)
But thats coming from someone who never gets snow

Yea if I had a beater car for the winter I would def go for the Nitto's right now im torn between the Firestone Firehawk Gts and the BFG G force TA KDW. The only thing is that the Firestones would def be better all season than the BFGs but I do like the BFGs alot better.

Here check this out just buy a set of cheep factory rims ? an buy a set of cheep but still good allseason tires. An when the snow comes put them on? An save the good tires for a sunny day
