Tire Pressure?

Sorry to just post a question on tire pressure, but do you guys recommend keeping tires at the psi recommended by the tire company or by Ford? I got some Fuzion ZR1's and they recommend the tire psi to be 40, but the recommendation by Ford for my 01 GT is 30psi.

The recommended psi is for the stock goodyears that come with the car. If you replace or switch tires, go with the new manufacturer recommendations.

i've got the same tires you have and i run 30psi

i ran 40 for a while and after a few spirited runs on a back road i found the contact patch is about 3 in. each tire

after 30 psi the contact patch is now the whole tread

I run 35psi in the front and 32psi in the rears just to have more of the rubber touch the ground for traction purposes.

1) Ford doesn't make your tires. They wouldn't know the correct pressure for any tires other than stock ones.

2) The label on your door with pressure of 30psi is for the stock tires.

That seems pretty obvious right? But a lot of people, for some retarded reason, fill other brand tires with only what the door label says. Come on people, use your heads!

What your tires say is probably max psi. They also probably say something like max lbs. IMO, that means if you have the max weight on each tire, then you should have the tires filled to the max psi. If the tires are the same size as stock, I would run the same psi. You can put a little paint, or marker on the tire to see if it wearing on the outsides (to little air) or in the middle (too much air)

I dissagree. Brand of tire makes no difference. The size of the tire does though. If you are using the same size tire as stock, go by the ford pressure.
