TIRE RUB against EXHAUST tail pipe?

ANY one using the Flowmaster "American Thunder" 2.5 tail pipes...

with wide TIRES>>>> I'm thinking about this combo
WELD dragstars.... 15x8.5 with 5.5 backspacing with
275/50/15 tires
ONLY thing I think I will have a problem with is the EXHAUST TAIL PIPE'S
WHAT YOU ALL THINK>>>>>???????????

i have them with 245/50/16 and its tight but but not to bad if you have to im sure you could probally cheat the tail pipes in a little to give you some clearence! good luck phil

If you take it to a muffler shop, or have access to a torch, you can heat up the tailpipe's hangers and then push the tailpipes in the direction you want them to go and they'll move out of the way. I've done it like that many times, even for 295/50R15's. A good muffler shop will know how to do it because they probably do that kind of thing all the time.

Im running 245/50/16 right now.... NO problems.. but I was thinking about
the RACE car look,,, and I was thinking about going with weld dragstars
The rear 15x8.5 wth 5.5 backspacing
ONLY one thing what TIRE to go with.... whats the bigest.. Widest...
I was thinking about a 275x50x15 or 265x50x15
WHAT you all think?

I have 265/50R15's right now and they'll clear stock or aftermarket tailpipes, no problem. They have a pretty wide footprint, but aren't really "fat" in the sidewalls. 275/50R15's are very close in size to the 265's. If they rub the tailpipes, it will only be slightly. A simple heating of the hangers and a couple of yanks and they'll be fine.

15x10 draglites with 295/50/15's, ditched tailpipe and quads, rubs on shock absorber dust cover. anyone know where they sell wheel spacers, like 1/2 inch ones?

Runnign that much spacer could create a problem unless you have long wheel studs. I have seen smaller, 1/8" spacers at regular auto stores, and I might try one of those -- maybe two.

well i had them on yesterday, the studs are a tiny bit too short. the only place that its rubbing is that shock dust cover, anyone have any ideas on how to take care of that. when i get the wheels on i will post pics asap. they look mean as hell!

15x10 wheels

Well.. you didnt share with us the Wheel backspacing,,,,,
AND u have to use the half inch spacers?????

longer wheel studs are the trick i guess>>> with the open lug nuts

my guess>> is u are using a SIX and a half backspacing then having to use a half inch spacer to get it off the inner wheel well..

The shock dust cover can be Cut off "easy enough" Have done that with
street stock oval cars.....NO biggy

You have to post us some pics.. DYING TO SEE THIS COMBO>>>>

im running 275/35/18 out back with no rubbing at all. Could i get a little wider tire with 18x9s?

I had 295/50R15's on Weld 15"x8" with 5.5" backspacing and they rubbed like crazy. This is with Eibach drag-launch springs though, which have lowered the rear a good bit. They rubbed the inner fenderwell AND on the outer lip, mostly when turning or when driving over big dips in the road. I liked the look of them, but the rubbing got old quick. The 265/50R15's I have now don't rub at all, even if I try to make them. I like the look of them too, so it all worked out.
Anybody want to buy some 295/50R15's with rub marks on one side and cuts all over the other side? Hehehehe... I didn't think so.

Just cut the tailpipes and run dumps off the mufflers.

i had the 2.5 mac catback and 275/50/15 nittos dr's and they didnt rub at all...i know have 3 inch exhaust so i run the mac pro dumps...but they are super loud so im thinken of geting the full mac 3 inch catback and try squizing it on there

i think i want to run 15x8.5 welds with 5.5 inch backspacing and some 275/50/16 nitto or bf goodwrinch DR'S for the rear this seems to be about the best you can go witout rubbing issue's.and i need the widest tire i can get with my new combo going in.
