tire wear after cc plate install

installed the m m cast camber plates on my gt and withing 12 days i can see a noticeable tire wear on the outside edge of both front tires...i had it tuned to the max motorsports recomendations.... what can i d to correct the problem i want to buy new tires 1 may but im not gonna if they keep wearing out this quick. any ideas

Get an alignment....

Your camber is positive and it should be slightly negative... (your struts are pulled too far to the outside on your plates.) Get a professional alignment right away.

had the alignment done the sec after they installed them...thats why i dont get why they are burning my outside edges up

Take it back. Didn't the Ford dealer install them? If so, it sounds like something is wrong.

I thing the recommended setting should just be a starting point before you put the car on an alignment machine. Check with some local tire shops to see if they will check the alignment for free to see what the problem is... you never know???

yeah ford dealer installed them i mean the car handles fine and stuff when i try to turn in a tight circle i can hear the tires jump and skid on the ground...all 3 spacers were used on the struts it sticks up high id post pics but it always says there too large to upload....ill try go get pics in a few min to show the look of install.

i know seems like he added all the spacers so there was nothing left in the kit,,,,, anyone know of pics on stangnet of cc plate installs that i can compare too?

You would have rec'd 4 spacers (per side). I've got 3 (two large and 1 small) on top, then the other small one underneath - per their instructions. How many spacers and the manner in which they are installed (above or below) is determined by the drop of the car. Effectively, this raises the strut, thus wearing and handling better. Still, I installed mine, had it aligned the same day, and still had similiar tire wear on the pass side (not on the drivers side)...I think it's a crappy alignment. (SORRY THE PIC IS SO FRIGGIN BIG!)

yeah i mean car handles just fine and steers strait in a line just the outside tires are getting more than normal wear., and i can start to feel the tiny vibration at highway speeds 60mph +. Would that be the caster or camber that is making the tire wear like that?

there are way too many spacers!! thats what you get for taking your car to a dealer to install aftermarket parts. they have no clue whats going on!!!!! now go to a speed shop and pay them to fix the mistake!

closest speed shop is long island 240 miles away or nj 200 miles, or mustangs unlimited 178 miles away. there isnt crap in my area for any kind of speed shop. heck there isnt even a local svt dealer anywhere close to me.. thats why i had to go to a local ford dealer anyone know of how to find one in the upstate ny area?

Dude, all you need, is to take it to a regular tire shop. I'm not saying one word about the competency of most dealership tech's, 'cause I've learned there are some over-sensitive guys on these forums that get offended when you talk about the quality of dealership service as if you are insulting them personally.

You've got toooooo many spacers on the top of that strut. If you have the tools, just remove the nut from the top of the strut, lift the car until the strut comes out of the CC plate, and move at least two (if not all three) of those spacers to the bottom. Then take it to a tire shop and get an alignment.

If you don't have the means to DIY, its ok. Most tire shops will be able to do that for you. They'll probably know as soon as they see those spacers on the strut shafts anyways.

1. they are not installed correctly as was stated above.

2. that tire wear looks like its from toe, not camber. camber would have a wear pattern across all the tread. wear that is jsut on the edge is from excessive toe.

i re read the maximum motorsports cc plate install instructions and it says as follows

(for lowered cars)
if using any of the tokico 3026 series of struts use the spacer guideline above
1 short on top and 2 long and one short on bottom... for all other struts install 1 short spacer below the spherical bearing. install 2 long and 1 short spacer above the bearing. there should be a total of 4 spacers per side and the install manual shows the pic of it with the 3 on top like mine
