Tire wear...

I bought some Pirelli P6000 255/40/17 tires last year. The wear is about average but I have the left front wearing more on the outer edge. I had the alignment checked and adjusted after my last rotate and balance. The left side is still wearing on the left edge. Anyone else have wearing problems with tires other than the stock size? Does the toe and camber need to be adjusted differently for tires other than stock or do the alighnment machines take this into account? I'm thinking of going back to the stock since my tires I had previously wore evenly.

My 02, still on the OEM tires, is wearing the front tires on the outer edge more than any other part, but it's not excessive and will not shorten their natural life (which is about up - 24K). Never been wreck, never any weird front end problems.
My wife's 01 had a front end wreck, but now wears tires perfectly evenly.
So, go figure....

Yea...I'm just tempted to go back to the stock size although I like the aggressive look of the wider tire. One tire has worn completly to the wear indicators and the other is getting close now. Still have plenty of tread overall. I'm going to swap it to the rear with the other and hope the good one left doesn't wear too much further. I'm getting close to 30,000 miles on them and they should be good for 40 if they were not wearing so unevenly.

When you have your alignment done, have them "weight" the car before performing the alignment. Could make all the difference, my guy does it...

I've heard of this...seems logical since I am alone most of the time in my car and the left side is the one wearing funny. I'll have to ask next time I go for tires.

mine wear slightly more on the outsides than the insides. its even on both left and right tires.

I had the same problem with my stock tires. Left fron tire was in pretty bad shape while the others were ok.

This started to happen after I lowered my car. I did have an alignment when I lowered it, but I guess I should have gotten another one 2-3 weeks later.

I did not bother to since I knew I was going to prepare my ride for my KB so I bought deep dish bullits with 295's back and 265's up front. I did have a new alignment done prior to installing the new rubbers and I have had no 'abnormal' wear since.
