I am starting to look for some new tires for my car. I want some that give a lot of grip on take off and in the turns. I do drive on rain some and i don't really want a tire that drives like a surf board when it rains. what do you guys sugguest? I was looking at the BFG g-Force T/A KD and the Nitto NT-555R II.

If you want a good tire for the rain I would second the BFG KDW.

KD - dry traction
KDW dry and wet traction
KDWS dry, wet and snow traction

BG's are more expensive than Nittos.

What about just the 555's and not 555R's?

I just put the KDWS all around and I like them. I try to to avoid rain though. If it's forecasted I try to leave my GT in the garage and use another family vehicle if possible.

Both the 555 and 555R are dry weather tires, the BFG KDW easily offers more traction in the rain.

if you concern about wet traction, don't get Nitto 555, or 555R. trust me. its freaky in heavy rain...

I will tell you what. I got these nexen tires on my comuter IROC just because they were cheap as hell.

there grip like a mofo in rain and dry. they were $450 a set off ebay for 245/45-18's. I only bought them because of the price(I drive like 100miles a day) but they outperform the avs sports or bfg ta's hands down. I do not know about the kdw's. I also here good thing about the toyo proxis line.

I am going to run toyo proxis or bfg kdw on my stang next. but I won't be purchansing for a week or two to give you any feedback.

KDW for a daily rider is a great choice.

Where can you get cheap KDW or KDWS? I tried the tire rack but they are somewhere around $200 per.

Didn't Ford recall those because they killed some people?

HAHAHAHAHA I forgot the lawsuit about the explorers and expo"s flippin over. I think the mighty ford execs tried to put the blame on firestone tire. It should'nt have beeen a lawsuit anyways the guys that were suing ford said the suv's flipped on them but they never mentioned (at least in all the crap i saw on it)how fast they were going or how sharp the turns were when they rolled their SUV which was originally made for off road crap not haulin kiddies or groceries or the soccer team. What I got out of that deal was stupid people are the problem not bad tires or bad cars. Anyways.........
My friend with a 99 trans am swears by them anybody have em.

Not I. I think I've used them and I'd just get a different tire though.

I run Nitto 555s and they suck in the rain but other than that they are great! Who wants to go fast in the rain anyway! I leave my pont in the garage when it's gonna rain!
