I may be in the market for a new trans soon, not sure yet, but ive been looking at the tko 500 and I like it alot. I was wondering whats the lowest price you guys come across for this trans and what do I need to install it?

search search search search! lol So many questions can be answered within 60 seconds if you just search.

Bell, clutch fork, clutch fork dust cover, driveshaft spacer, new yoke, clutch disc(if u get the upgraded spline), and a spacer for the trans mount. But this thread has a way that seems to be idiot proof to maintain the same ht. of the tranny....

And i say to pay the extra $70 or whatever it is and get the TKO-600. You get an extra 100ftlbs of torque rating for next to nothing. A new 26 spline disk is $70-100 i believe.

*************INDEX THE BELLHOUSING**************

Search about it if u dont know how....there was just a thread about it.

I dont like any of the tko tranny's. I've had 2 500's. I had the first one replaced for free becasue it was so dang loud. And my 2nd one that i have right now isnt much better. Save for a 6 speed unless you need it now...or if your car is just gonna be a track car...Dont get me wrong, i cant break my tranny and i drive the hell outta it. I just wish it was as quiet as my t-5

Im getting the tko500 rated to 750hp from here

http://www.modularmustangracing.com/

Im sure its not the "cheapest" but I dont necessarily want to purchase a transmission off ebay.

Both of mine had/have a gear grinding noise at low rpms. Espessially in 5th gear. The whine is there, but minimal.

Thats wierd about your TKO-500 being loud. Mine is quiet even quieter than my T-5. No whining here. Are you using syncromesh?

I notice no whining or gear "grinding" on my tko600. The only difference is that it feels a TAD bit notchier than the t-5...but just barely. Atleast to me anyway....

mine sounds like a ****en coffey can with pellets on it. yes i use syncromesh. ON my first tranny, i had mercon put in it . so i got a new one. lol. But the one i have now is pure gm syncromesh. Do a search...there are alot of people who complain the tko has a loud whine/internal noise.
