It does not need to be centered the flywheel and the base with both turn when the engine it turned over by hand.

Btw since you have the motor out index the bell housing now. It wil save alot of time and headache.

That's what I'm still a little confused on. If the base is attached off-center on the flywheel and you spin the engine, won't that cause the indicator to move along with the base? Maybe I just need to set it up and then it will make sense.
