I installed the Motor with the tranny...But I didnt take any measurements prior to removal. Not that it would have helped much with all the changes.

I searched the topic and have come up with the following questions for those that have done the installs before.

1. I am using the Energy Sus. tranny mount. It seems to line up with the bolt holes on the X-member. So why do go people have to notch the member?

2. Why would you flip the X-member? And what does that mean exactly?

3. Shimming the tranny Up a 1/2 inch or so.. Mine only has about that much clearance before it hits the cars tunnel...

4. And lastly anybody have any measurement that i might be able to start with?

PICS would really help..

Thanks in advance...

I rotated my crossmember 180 degrees. Has something with the way it lines up. I'm not exactly sure why, but people said to do it, I did it, and it works fine. I did have to lengthen the holes though just a tad. I also am using the engery suspension mount, along with two 1/4" steel plates for 1/2" of spacing. The tranny butts right up against the tunnel, so I just pounded it out a bit with a BFH.

No vibrations yet for me, but like I've said before, I think I just got lucky or soemthing.

If it lines up, go for it! Mine was just barely off with the mount bolted directly to the trans, and it was off about the same amount on the other side when I bolted up the exhaust hanger. I notched the exhaust hanger so the mount would line up.

2. Why would you flip the X-member? And what does that mean exactly?

Flipping the cross member 180* will sometimes allow the tranny mount to line up. Some people have success with it, some don't. I would advise against flipping it.

3. Shimming the tranny Up a 1/2 inch or so.. Mine only has about that much clearance before it hits the cars tunnel...

You probably don't need to go up a 1/2". Mine has two exhaust hangers, one of them is cut and just used as a spacer. Together they're probably about 1/4" or just over.

4. And lastly anybody have any measurement that i might be able to start with?

Here's my thread from my install, http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=625518. I fixed the broken picture links.

To sum it up, I modified the exhaust hanger to get it to bolt up. The vibration was from the pinion angle being off, a set of adjustable UCA's fixed that problem.

Good luck!
