TKO shifting trouble.

Sorry about posting in here but nobody ever looks in race tech. I have a '93 lx with a 351 beast in it (550+fwhp) and a tremec TKO sitting behind it. Took the car on about 5 hard shifting passes and the tranny did fine. clutch was adjusted good and everything. now, i have to shift very slowly into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th or else it wont go in gear. i thot it was the synchronizer bearings but why would 3 go out at once? also when i bring the rpms above 4000 rpms on the starting line, the car starts to roll even with the clutch all the way in. it never did that before. all bolts are tight and the clutch assembly and aluminum flywheel are brand new. please help guys.

I had a similar problem recently.... It wouldn't go into 1st 2nd or 3rd unless I put it into 4th first... I was told to check the reverse sensor by a Mustang guru, as it was a known problem... My backup lights didn't work either, so that could be it for me. The car is dead right now, so I haven't had a chance to mess with that part.

It's a TKO also.

Clutch is way too tight, you are not disenagaging fully. No wonder the poor TKO won't shift worth beans, everything won't stop spinning so it can sync up to change gears.

but it shifted fine and started doing this before i messed with the clutch

my t5 did the same thing.....never could figure out what the problem was...so i ditched it for a tko. sorry not really helping...but id check the clutch adjustment. i wouldnt say its too tight because when i think too tight i think its engaging too high meaning its not engaging fully. too loose would mean its not disengaging. but i know what you meant

I agree, the clutch isn't disengaging completely. The way I adjust is take all the slack out and leave about the thickness of a dime if you pull out on the cable from the firewall adjuster. Another thing I've done to get more travel is shim out the pivot ball in the bell housing with washers. That moves the fork toward the rear of the car and gives you more travel.

i have shimed out the cable at the clutch fork and i have used up almost half of my firewall adjuster. we might send it in to D&D. thanks for all the responses guys.

It's not uncommon to use up at least 1/2 the firewall adjuster right away. The cables stretch pretty quick.
