I search for TKO 500/600 on this forum and all people do is bash the thing. Surely someone that has it likes it, is it really garbage like everyone claims or are people not setting up clutch cables or what have you properly?
I would like to swap out my AOD for something better than a WC T-5.

I never saw any bashing but i love my tko. Some ppeople dont like them becuase they are tight and notchy shifting. They are not smooth and sloppy feeling like a t5.Some people have problems shifting over 6k rpms but if your shifting over that rpm, the tko is not for you. The instructions tell you not to shift over that. If your running a high reving stroker down the quarter mile all the time, you would probably be better off with a g-force or auto or maybe a viper spec t56.

You get used to the notchyness after just a few miles of driving.
I never had an issue with mine, but it was professionally installed, seems like alot of issues here have resulted from home installation.

Call the guy at promotion peformance when you are ready, he knows his stuff.

Also, keep in mind you do need a shifter for it, according to the PM guy, the internal stops can break off if you are too hard on them, and then they get ground up in the gears.
Promotion has a stops plate that is about half the cost of a new shifter too.

No one that I personally know has had any problems with their TKO.

Havent dynoed the car yet. i can tell you one thing though, rolling 2nd and 3rd gear burnouts on stock 16x8 and a tko are fun and scary at the same time.
Woody at fordstrokers is a pretty good guy

My car doesn't have a stroker but the TKO 600 is great. I have heard a bit of bashing but I havn't experienced any of the issues so I cannot relate. I have a feeling that a lot of people don't have their bellhousing indexed. Even my Aluminium bellhousing which isn't suppose to need indexing was just within spec. A lot of vibration issues and breakage can happen from a misalligned bellhousing. Also I went on the easy and bought a HPM crossmember. I can imagine that the misaligned xmember or worn out old rubber bushings can have something to do with vibration too. The tansmission is definately stout. I would imagine it is perfect for a stroker since the stroker doesn't need to wind out like a 302.

i had the tko 500 behind my 347 and i found that at about 6 grand going into 3 it wanted to bind up between gears that and every few months the roll pin that held the slider on the raill under the shifter wanted to vibrate upwards and out witch interms left me on the side of the rd pulling a shifter out to tap the roll pin back in. other then that after u drive them for a little bit the shifter feels the same as a t5 . my trans was baught from camble gear tech out here in mooresville nc

I've been on the fence about swapping my AOD for a TKO. i dont wanna waste my money on a T5 cause i know i'll be ruff on er
