Well I'm going to be putting some ported e7s with valve job, similar to thumpers

with 1.7rr and trickflow springs on my car. Now in the future ( a year or two ) I

plan on putting together a twin turbo setup onto my car ( want small turbos with little turbo lag, so they spool fast ).

The block, at least, will never see more than prolly 400 horses. I am debating highly whether to put a b

cam in my car or remain with stock. I know it would be 1000x easier to do this

while I got everything torn down, but wanted to see what everyone else thinks.

I want my car to be a real torque monster down low, so either way I don't want

to lose anything at all really down low.

Any and all opinions welcome,

Thanks in advance

yep, it pulls and pulls after 3.5k but off the line really not that impressive, but you can punch it at 3k in first and roast the tires down to the rev limiter, hit second and spin some more, this is with stock heads and a bcam, ud pulies, intake and 65mm tb and a custom ported intake. But do not use the bcam for forced induction, go with a fcam, or a anderson ford motorsport unit.

The B cam won't really make power on stock heads until probably 2500 or so. Gears help down low, but if you start real low in 2nd and gun it (1500 or so), you won't really "jump" until 2300 or so, and then it hits pretty nicely. I have a B cam and totally stock (cleaned up when re-installed, but no port work) heads.

Anyone else's opinions?

I see that the stock cam stats are like.444 lift at .05 and the b cam is like .498 lift at .05 with 1.6rr, how would that compare with 1.7rr liek I'm getting?

Also what does the duration number mean? would it increase with the 1.7rr or does decreasing it make the lopey idle?

Stocker, I have a valve jobbed, larger valved set of E7s, with a stock cam, and make good power. 400 to the tires would be nothing with boost on my motor! I say stay stock, it feels great on the street.

id leave it stock as well. all ur gonna probally do is hurt urself down low.. but if i was u and was gonna build something i woulda wanna build it so it had a ton up top.. the cars are'nt super heavy.. and u can bring the power down with gears. all that hard low end torque is just gonna cause for bad hook up problems.. just my .2

I have a B303 cam in my 5.0. When I was going to the TrickFlow heads, I was also thinking about going to a bigger cam but I spoke to the guys at Mustangs
Unlimited and they told me to keep the B cam (480 lift) and swap out the 1.6 RR's and go with 1.7 RR's so I would get more lift (510) out of the cam.

i remember reading awhile back.. that the way the geometry of the 1.7s with the valve train can be very straining.. and that if u were gonna be doing a cam anyways why not just up the lift instead of upping the rocker arm? anyone got a reason for it?
thanks

yeah 1.7s suck they cause sever valve float at 5800 to 6000 RPM I thought my springs were weak and replaced them, that didnt help. I wasnt Impressed.

that depends on what springs you used and what the installed height was with the pressure of the spring. with what i have in my sig it raps well over 6500 with no float, hit 7g once and never floated. so i guess its all how you set it up
i mean im no expert on heads and such but i installed them myself and it was cake work.

Because by choosing the rockers, and cam together you have more control over Valve train geometry. Same reason people use different pushrod lengths, shims in the rockers, and such... It ALL works together to make power.

I also rev mine to 5800 all the time and dont get any float, but I have better springs!

well i've decided I'm going to go ahead and do a b cam, sounds about like what I

want for power and from the sound clips i've found it sounds pretty nice. Question

is, will it interfere with the stock valve covers with the 1.7rr? I know you can run a

stock cam and get rid of oil baffle on the passenger side but I don't know if I should

worry about getting new vc or not? Also all i could find on here were like 5 or 6

sound or vids of the b cam, anyone have anymore?
