I wanna upgrade FINALLY to a set of 4.10's... my question is what do I need to get along with the gears to have someone install them? IE.. speed cal.. what else? also what type of gears should i go for ? I hear Ford Racing is the general for gears and how much should i expect for parts and install? thanks!

$1,400.00 (give or take $50.00) at your local Ford dealership. Hey, Ford quality is job #1, don't ya know? And no, the price isn't a joke.

I've inquired here, and in the real world. It comes down to around $475.00 or less as a "rule of thumb." Any more than this, various members have sworn to hunt people down and shoot them for being stupid / lazy for not getting the best deal.

FRPP (Ford) gears are pretty much what everyone has / uses. I'm sticking with the folks who know what they're talking about and will be going this route as well.

Hope that helps. - Mega

You're going to want to look into getting replacement bearings as well as a trac-lok rebuild kit which is cheap security and highly recommended besides just the ring and pinion gears.

Expect to pay around $500 after parts and labor.

While you're down there, look into 31spline Moser axles if you ever plan to put slicks on the car.

I can't remember right off hand, but I think I paid $395 + tax in and out. That's for gears, lube, friction modifier, and labor. Total wasn't more than $420 I don't think. He raised his price three days before I got it done, but gave me the deal because I made an appointment previously. I think it's like around $450 in and out for everything (drop the car off and pick it up.) That's a great price from a very very reputable place.
