To leave cats on or not

i have a mach and im going from o/r x to o/r h because i dont really like the tone with 40 flows. What kind of cat back do you have?

Cats has pros and con:

Cats:
Back Pressure on a nonpi stock GT is needed. Or else you really dont have any power on the streets because our top end is already taken from our restrictive heads and intake. So having the cats on really help up using the the lower power.


No bad smell. With the cats on you get a normal car smell thats doesnt smell bad at all. After i took off my o/r H for emission i started the car up and noticed the smell of burned fuel from the cats and it smelled so good compared to the uncatted version of my car.

Your clothes doesnt smell. After driving the car with the top down or windows down you start to smell like fuel. Your hands and arms also get the smell trapped on you till you wash them.

Cats quiets your exhaust way to damn much!!!


No Cats:

Sounds so much better with my dumped macs. VERY VERY LOUD and VERY VERT Throaty and just plain mean!

No power. When taking off from a stoplight i can be mistaken for a ricer. Because im making tons of noise, but not going anywhere.

Your TOP END is improved big time. even on the nonpi you get alittle bit more power from your car. however, anything below 4000K rpm is useless. 0-3999K rpm is just for exhaust sound on my car lol...

Smells: Its not really a bad bad smell but its gets annoying really quick if your not use to it.

Your clothes/hands stink once you get out your car.. even if you just took a nice long shower.

My verdict?? RUN THE O/R h. After my emission this month im going back to the o/r no matter what. I know im slow, but i sound good as hell =]

IMO, if you are in a State without inspections then ditch the cats..

i definitly think that the o/r setup smells 10x better. it reminds me of when i was younger. all cars smelled that way.

Well im new school so i love the way catted cars smell. It has a sweet armoma *sp*. The uncatted version had a distint smell that i dont like, but i been dealing with it for months now. Its not 2 big of a problem because after emission testing the cats are coming back off. But im sure going to miss stopping at a red light and smell nothing but fresh air or fried chicken (hahaahahaha)

Wow that car looks familiar!!!

Going from stock H pipe on my car to BBK ORX I noticed more of a bump in top end compared to down low like the pro/con post mentioned.

I didnt notice a smell until I fixed a leak that developed when I put the pipe on wrong, but now it is fixed..

Ya gotta love how the English language can be taken different ways when reading. Yep, with or without inspections, ditch the cats.

But I find it interesting that when I typed "IMO, if you are in a State without inspections then ditch the cats..", I meant it to be read as "IMO, if YOU are in a State without inspections then ditch the cats.." speaking to the thread starter. This is random, yes I know but it's interesting .. the word "you" can be taken by someone else to mean "you, specifically" or "you, in general" .. English has to be the most complicated language. Makes you think about contracts and everything else that's in writing .. how subjective it is.

OK, I'm done ... goin to clean the stang.

Please make sure you recycle if you ditch the cats to make up for your sins.
