Ok so its spring time and Im gonna start modding the GT but I also want to do some cosmetic mods along with the performance mods. I already have some 17 inch black Bullitts on order and I think I also want to do either a billet grille or the Mach 1 grille delete and then the honey comb piece for the rear. But my question is should I do the rocker panel stripes? Personally I think stripes/graphics somethimes make the car look gawdy if not done tastefully. But if I do end up doing them I will most likely do the ones that say "Mustang" since almost everyone has those especially the guys with the 3.8Ls around my area. Most likely I wanna do a set that says "4.6L GT" or "GT 281" (which is reminisant of the oldschool "GT 500" and "GT 390" stripes).

So just looking to get some feedback from you guys on what I should do:

1.) Mustang
2.) Mustang GT
3.) 4.6L GT
4.) GT 281 (only problem with these is that I cant find anywhere that makes them but I know they exist because I have seen them on ONE car a few months back).

Or should I just leave it stripeless?

i dunno if its just me but putting something like "Mustang GT" right under a GT symbol would just be too busy on the side in my opinion... I've seen the decals that are along the 4.6L GT that go on the hood scoop on americanmuscle.com might look nice

Yeah its gonna be in black since my car is mineral gray any other color stripe might look like crap.

EDIT: Heres the link with a pick of the ones that say "4.6L GT". All the other ones with the exception of the ones that say "GT 281" are on Americanmuscle.com http://www.graphic-express.com/n220-series.asp They are the ones that say 4.6L GT in the link they are the second ones down. I think the ones on top say like "4.6L V8 which looks horrible in my opinion.

The hood striping that says "GT" with the long black hood stripes I think is a like it or hate it thing. I've seen afew of them, matter a fact a GT was behind me yesterday in the drive-thru at McDonalds with the GT hood striping. I don't personally like it, but whatever. I've seen a couple GT's with the rocker panel striping and I do think that looks good. I think one said Mustang GT and another one I saw just had the multiple running ponies.

I was thinking of doing something similar but not having any lettering on the stripe. Now I'm thinking of putting white 4.6L V8 on my black hood scope.

+1 For the hood scoop logo .Around where im at the only ones with the lower body stripes are just the plain 3.8 stangs. To me stripes on the side just makes it look to busy like someone else has already said, but thats just my opinion. But if I went with them the GT 281 would be my choice.

no one around here likes billet grilles, just so you know I have one but I think it might look better black so once the weather warms up...

as far as stripes and such go not really a fan here. had white rally stripes when I got mine and had to peel them off after a cople months.

I do like this other design though, I will try to find it, I have a pic somewhere but I don't know where.

also a buddy of mine does vinyl designs for a living, he did my hood scoop thing and I'm going to have him do something like my pic here that I'm going to go find now.....

it is a very simple design, but I think it looks good, and can easilly be changed or added to...

Yeah I figured that since ive NEVER seen anyone on here post pics of their car with one. I liked how it looked on Elanor and in my opinion it makes the front end look a little bit more agressive as opposed to the Mach grille delete. Plus EVERYONE has the Mach grille delete. Im not saying it looks bad because this is still an option for me when I do my grille but if I do go with the Mach delete does anyone know how to set it up so I can keep the coral that is around the pony logo?

I'd say "MUSTANG GT" like the 65/66 GT's had would look the best

you can go to a signs now or similiar store that makes signs and have what you want made. I used graphics express for the checkered part(they show it for the middle of door, but I put it on the rocker) and had the limited edition lettering made at a sign shop. your not limited by whats offered if you use your imag.

here are some pics of my dark shadow gray gt, kind of gives you an idea of what your mineral gray might look like w/ stripes and black bullitts:

i also have a hood stripe that matches the rocker panel stripes:

Thanks for all input and the pics guys. Yeah I have quite a few ideas for what I want to do but its so hard to decide haha. Pkarol1 your car is sick. Pretty much what I want mine to look like cosmetically. I especially like the Mach 1 hood decal. I was thinking about getting that but didnt know how it would look on my car. Now I know haha.

I like the mach 1 hood decal, but it would drive me nuts that the outer line doesn't line up with the curve on the hood. I like my fake 35th stripe.

the one i have isn't an actual mach1 hood decal. it's made for the gt hood and it does line up w/ the curves of the hood. you can get them on ebay:

Actually I believe it is a "Mach 1" decal. Americanmuscle.com has them specifically for the GT and in the description it says "Mach one hood decal. Fits 2000-2004 Mustang GT". So I think its more of a Mach 1 styled decal for GT owners.
