To tune or not to tune

I just got my CAI and Tune from Steeda.. I live 40 mins away from them, so I go there myself. Picked up 25 hp/27 tq peak numbers but almost the same amt throughout the entire power band. Car chirps/spins tires to third gear (AUTO). Send me a PM if you want more info..Going back next week for them to do 2-3 hours of dyno tune/testing on my car to get things just right. Call them and ask for Todd...Tell him "Rob" referred you..he'll hook you up.

As far as the warranty, the dealer cannot "void" your warranty. They "could" say that something is not covered because of the tune, but say your A/C compressor blows...that is unrelated to a tune. If a rod breaks, they "could" say it was the tune, so a warranty is not just VOIDED.. Now, having said that, since Steeda is local to us, a lot of dealers will accept work on aftermarket stuff by Steeda. Remember, the dealers get paid by FORD when they work on the cars, so it is in their best interest to do accept work when possible. My local dealer fixed an F 150 twice after their chip blew the engine. They finally told them "NO THIRD".

Ok..American Muscle (on here) and Brenspeed sell the Steeda stuff, but why not go directly to Steeda? Call them, ask for Todd. Tell him Rob referred you. Tell him if you find a better price for them to check out and they should match or come really close. If they come close but still a few bucks more, would be worth it to stay with them. If you live out of GA and FL, there is no tax, and shipping is free or minimal. They will also help with supplying and loading tunes.

Im not sure about LOWER, but right in the ball park, and if you find the part at an authorized vendor for less, just let them know and they will work with you. Only thing that sucks for me is I gotta pay 6% sales tax!

Before you purchase from Steeda, Be sure to check their return policy...or lack there of. Only store credit given or 20% re-stocking fee. Not sure if others are the same way...just FYI.

As far as the warranty goes, you would def want to return the car to stock before going in for warranty work......it was explained to me like this, even after returning the car to stock, once the dealer hooks up their computer to your car, they will be able to tell something has been done within the computer system, but they would have to be able to prove that it was an aftermarket tune and prove that said tune caused the damage, if they can not prove it, they have to warranty it.

A good person to ask this question is AMChrisRose he is quite possibly the best tuner out there, he Tunes for Bama, I imagine he could tell you more about the warranty repercussions from adding a tune. Shoot him a PM if you would like more info.
