The local track opened back up this weekend after closing for the hot summer months,so I decided to take along my street car along with my track car as they were running test and tune in between footbrake class. On the third run I decided to open the bottle to see what it would do and ran a 7.20 @91 with a 1.64 60ft spinning a little. At the end of the run I thought I smelled the clutch but I didn't notice it slipping at all. My buddy wanted to try it a couple of passes and see if he could get it to launch better without the bottle, and after the third pass he said it was slipping and you could deffinitly smell it was burnt and it was slipping bad. Driving home it slipped bad evrry time you got into it.When I built this engine I went with the Spec stage two plus as it was advertised to handle 600 hp.I've only got about 5000
miles on the new engine and trans, and thought this clutch should handle it.

Combo is 354 stroker with a mild comp cam, ported roush 200 heads and ported cobra intake,365rwhp/390 tq n/a with a 125 shot added, spec billet flywheel and stage 2+ clutch,TKO 500, 3.73s with M/T et street radials 275/40/17

1. shouldn't this clutch hold up to this combo?
2. Do you think they would replace it with only 5k miles on it?
3. what should I replace it with if they dont warrantee it?

BTW I won the footbrake class after 8 rounds. My First win in brackets.
$800 and dinner for two at the local steak house. The other guy red lighted in the finals to my .530 light. :SNSign:

I think it's considered a race part, thus no warranty.

IDK about the clutch though. Did you try it the next day. Once the material gets that hot, after a cool down, the surface may come back. I have burned my clutch a few times and it's still holding great.

Dunno how old is your stage 2 it seems the new ones are good for 500+ ft/lbs torque but I remember the older ones ie. mine being rated at less. Could it be that you clutch cable was adjusted too tight thus causing extra slipping. I have had a stage 2 for two years now and I open track the car and its been fine. Do dragracing or slicks tho....

If you want a very nice replacement that will hold for sure with a lighter pedal feel consider a mcleaod street dual disc setup. Wicked expensive, but wicked nice and as streetable as a stock clutch...if not better.
