I have a 96 GT conv. with a 2" drop. The car is a third car that I only drive on the street, and occasionally take a trip to the mountains with. I have decided on the tokico hp shocks and struts, but have read that with that drop I should get the ones for a fox body in the front. I have asked MM for help, but have not received an answer, along with mixed reviews when I searched through previous threads. I have a set of caster camber plates that I will install once I get the shocks/struts. Anyone have any suggestions? I need to get these ordered because the rear shocks are worn out. Thanks for the help.

Just get the regular Tokico blues for a 94-04. My buddy has them matched up with sportlines on his 04 & the car rides nice....

glad i read this thread, i'm looking for new shocks/struts too and was leaning towards the hp's too, but didn't know if they were a stock replacement or if they work with lowered cars. stock struts are bottomed out with the lowering springs and i'm tired of the poor ride quality

I run the Fox fronts with my H&R SS springs. This was recommended by Stangsuspension.com. I have seen people running both with no problems

I could be wrong, but as I understood it, when being compared to Fox struts, the SN95 struts have about 1.5" less bump travel.

With that, I'd recommend the 3026 series (87-93 GT/LX) strut for a lowered SN-95 instead of the 3140 strut which is better suited for stock(ish) ride height 94-04 Mustangs.

I just got off the phone with American Muscle. The guy there told me that the HP's are a good choice for my application, but also said he is running KYB GR2's on his lowered mustang for 3 years with no problems. I know these are cheaper, but I haven't read many reviews about them. Are they any good versus the HP's?

KYB America LLC Shocks & Struts | Products | GR-2©
Purpose: Restores a vehicle’s originally designed handling and control

These KYB GR2 struts/shocks are pretty much a stock replacement, so you won't see things any worse than they are now, but at the same time, not much better either.

The Tokico HP, "Blues", or "Premium Performance" are the entry level Tokico strut/shock, and I would say they're better than the KYB or your current setup. The Tokico Illumina and D-Spec series offer adjustability, which you may enjoy with that you can choose your firmness or softness. The Illumina gives you 5 settings, and D-Specs let you use a key/knob to get your suspension exactly where you want it.

If you can afford a couple bucks more for the Illuminas, I think you'd feel a world of difference.
