I went and talked to the guys at Blood yesterday about putting a P1SC Procharger on the Cobra. Here's the price breakdown: $3,600 for the kit, $365 for Superchip and tuning is going to be between $500 and $700. They also want $1,000 to install it. So basically, $5,400 to $5,600 + tax out the door. The kit and the chip seem reasonable, but the cost for installation and tuning seems quite a lot. Anyone got any ideas? I'm just trying to decide if it's worth it or not. I've got the money, just don't know if I want to spend that much. I'm pretty confident I could do it myself, but I don't have the facilities to tear the car down, plus, I don't know jack about tuning with EFI and such.

From what I've heard, procharger has pretty bad instructions for installing it.. although not much could be worse than buying a used Vortech kit like I did, and trying to figure out what pieces are missing, etc. Though, the procharger should be more straight forward to install since you dont have to tap the oil pan and mess with oil lines.

I put mine in myself, no biggy.. but it took me a couple of weeks because I had to keep ordering parts, luckily I have a 2nd vehicle and a garage.. you should be able to get it done in a weekend if you have a brand new kit and a helper or two.

As for tuning it, let them do it.. it is ok to drive the car.. just stay out of the boost. My car is running like a champ.. going to get it tuned this weekend. Hope some of that helps you. If you end up getting the kit and decide to put it in yourself, I could probably lend a hand, we have a 3 car garage, and most of the tools you'd need.

Hey shifter I think I talked to you at carb connection. If you buy the supercharger I will help you install it. Then you can have someone tune it. Let me know if you still want help doing it. I forgot to give you my number before I left.

What are your plans for the car? Street driving? Drags? Open Track? What type of car? Depeding on your answers you may find that you are missing components that the kit does not come with that also should be done.

To the best of my knowledge Blue Oval Performance & Brad's Custom Auto are the only W/D's for Procharger in the state. The install price sounds fairly normal. You might check with one of them as well. Procharger has poor instructions. Vortech seems to have the best instructions and kits over all. The Procharger head unit is great, its the rest of the kit that is lacking.

Thanks for all the info and help offers. If I put one on myself, I will definitely take you guys up on the offers. Of course, now I'm debating on which one to go with. I'm actually considering a Kenne Bell, simply for the fact that they make boost almost immediately. It's going to be a street car with maybe two-three times a year seeing a dragstrip. I've heard that with centrifugals you really have to get on it to make boost. Don't know if I want to flog it simply to have fun.

Also, BrainV, are you still at McChord? I'm stationed there too, just wondering. I don't think I've seen your car around.

Iron, doubt it was me, I just got the car about two weeks ago. I work in the garage sometimes though. In fact, I'll be working on the 7th of July. I'll have the Cobra there, so come by and say hello if you get a chance. Brian, you work swings, huh? That wasn't you I just saw pulled over on 512 was it? Car looked similar to yours.

Well with a 5.0 if you get a professional or good mail order tune, and keep the boost reasonable you should be just fine. The concerns that I was starting to voice would be related to 99+ cars that see open track duty. I would recommend finding someone with each and getting a feel for the power delivery. I had a Paxton (ball-bearing) s/c on my 91 LX and it never did hook up very well, a KB might be worse.
