too much oil?

my dipstick is mangled and i can't use it, so i can't measure my oil level. i need to get that fixed, i know. :nonono:

a couple of weeks ago my low oil light came on about 3 times in a 7 day span, so i concluded that i needed oil and i put in a quart.

ever since, when i start the car cold, there is a valve clicking noise that goes away after about 30 seconds or so. it sounds like just one valve.

could too much oil be the reason for the valve noise, or is it just a coincidence?

Sounds like it is oil starved... You may have burned up your oil pump. NEVER wait for idiot lights to come on. At that point damage has already been done.

Too much oil will not cause valve noise...

I check my oil every other gas fill up...

thanks for the replies everyone.

it is actually not the dipstick, it is the tube the dipstick goes into. it is really loose and when i take the dipstick out it is next to impossible to put it back in. i think the guy who installed the headers (before i got the car) mangled it.

but i definately need to fix it.
