Well Friday night I was running ****ty times at LMP in Sealy, TX. So I decided to go to HRP in Baytown Sunday.

Here are my times. My first run starts on the right and last to the left.

My best time was a 14.5@92 with a 2.0x 60' ON STREET TIRES

I am planning on going back in a few weeks. I was wanting to try putting VHT on my tires next time so maybe I can get a 1.9x 60' time.

Are these good times considering my mods??
Mods:
3.73 gears
3.5" CAI
bbk 70mm TB
msd blaster coil
full MAC exhaust(highflow cats installed for emissions)
eibach lowering springs, control arms, and sway bars
pro50 short throw

I was trying hard for the 1.9x 60' time. I came close on my best run. I think it was because I was lined up against a new 05-07 Mustang GT. I ended up beating him. I took about a car to a car and a half off the launch and held my ground. I was surprised he didn't suck me up.

I was shifting at about 5000rpm... I think I should be shifting around 4900. Next time I will try using VHT and get a 1.9x 60' and shift at 4900rpm

For a vert that's probably pretty decient for the mods you have. Your times give me hope that I'll be able to hit 14 flat when I head to HRP in a few weeks in my 95 auto vert. I've listed my mods below if anyone wants to try to guess what it will run.

GT40Y heads
stock cam
1.7 RR's
Cobra intake, lower polished/smoothed a little
BBK equal length shorties
Mac Off road H
BBK 65mm TB
BBK CAI
underdrive pullies
stock 3.27 gears
stock MAF/injectors/FPR/wires/ignition

EDIT: I just noticed you said 70mm TB. Did you open up the upper intake with a dremel to accept the 70mm TB? If not you're probably gettung turbulance when the air hits the upper intake.

I was taking my time. I was more concerned on getting a good launch without spinning than launching on the light and running a ****ty time.

I know my TB is only hurting me right now. I still have the stock MAF and stock manifold. I am saving up for the TFS topend kit. When I bought the car, the previous owner had h/c/i setup and parted it out. He couldn't put the stock TB back because it broke so he left the bbk TB.

Whenever you go to HRP let me know. I might make it out there. I don't think I can get any better times out of my car. Maybe if I did some weight reduction. Not worth it though. I would get 410 gears for your auto.

I noticed my car traps 2-4 mph slower than other sn95 gt's. If this a problem, or is it just because it is a vert?

Booo! Reactions times have nothing to do with how his car runs. If he was posting about heads up or bracket racing, then we look at that.

Times look pretty descent for the mods.

Argh... hijack. You should be close, but I don't see a converter or shift kit listed.

LOL, I guess I wasn't exactly stealthy with my jack was I

Still stock converter and no shift kit. The 1-2 shift feels a lot better than stock but I don't know about the 2-3 yet. I haven't stayed in it long enough to see how that one feels.

I have no clue what you would run.

Once you get gears, shift kit, stall and dr's... expect a much lower time.

Say again? You've never stayed in it long enough for a 2-3 shift? Then to be honest, I don't think you'll make your "goal" the first trip to the track. There's a bit more to it then rolling in, running your best, then going home.

With the auto the only thing worth practicing on the street is my launch, and even then track prep is going to trump anything I can find on any back road where I could practice. Around here there's too many people and not enough clear roads for me to be testing how the 2-3 shift feels, especially when it ultimately doesn't matter because my driving won't change how it shifts.

Where do you live you can't safely run 80mph? My apologies if I sound stupid. I live in the mid-west, so it's hard to comprehend. Here you can go hours without seeing another car at night.

You may need to manual shift the car to gain optimum performance.

, no problem with the questions. I could do it on the interstate (and now that I think about it I may have done that once since the head install) but from a stop it would take too much road and I don't want to risk being pulled over. I'm in Houston but very familiar with midwest back roads. I grew up in cornfield Illinois and finding open road there was never a problem!

Your car mods are very close to mine other than being an auto. If it is not listed in my mods then it is stock.
You should be able to do 14.0s farely easily.

you are crazy. I live just south of Houston. There is a MILLION places to go fast. Just stop on a feeder road... just stop while getting on an empty onramp. There is so many places to race. When I come back from the track on weekends I never get below 90mph while cruising and racing with a bunch of other cars leaving the track. There is a HUGE race scene here in Houston. Cops are very leniant in Houston compared to surrounding cities.

I didn't figure 30 seconds or a half mile of road would be that hard to find, but I don't live there.

Now a tough place to find a place to "open her up" around here is in Branson. It's packed, and the roads are nasty with hills and curves. That's really the only place around here I could see not hitting 3rd at WOT and even then there are a few places you can do it.

But hey, there's nothing wrong with "not breaking the law". Just use that reason.

ok the cops aren't leniant, but there isn't that much considering the traffic. If you go out at night(after the work croud goes home), then there is no traffic and plenty of places to act stupid. Go to Rankin road if nothing else. Go to beltway 8 and stop on the empty feeder.

hehe... just trying to prove a point, but I would have understood if you said you didn't want to take a risk on getting a ticket... you said there just wasnt anywhere to do it...

Head down 288 at night... it is empty.. trust me.. I have to make a 40min drive down 288 everytime I come back from houston

I'm a member of Htownracing, HPD, fearlessperformance, etc. I've been in Houston, "street" racing for over 7 years. It is harder now than ever.

Screen names are ViperBlueCobra and RU SURE go do some searches...**** here is a video of me in my cobra 8 months back...

Real racing gets too much attention and videos are poping up on the local news station. YES, Channel 13 posted a video from HPD and it was a huge deal.

I have been very fortunate in a few of the tangles with the law that I have, and I'll tell you this. It's not worth it.

We're not talking about actual street racing... we're actually talking about shifting INTO 3rd in an AODE with 3.27 gears. I think you get his point.

Hey, shouldn't you be posting over on TPH?

I guess I'm getting older and don't care to take the risks that I used to on the street. From a dead stop it just takes too much real estate for this car to get up to 3rd for me to risk a ticket or hurting someone. I save those runs for the track.
