Took my Mustang to a dragster shop.

Frankly, I don't trust most of the flakey ripoff mechanics in my town. So, I'm having a local dragster shop install a new 9" rear on my '65 along with new rear discs, new MC and brake lines, powerbooster, new leaf springs, and to do a small subrame repair. So, when I get there, I am totally blown away. This guy has a huge garage (actually a metal building) about 4,000 square feet with 3-4 dragsters in various stages of completion. He told me he has built over 180 dragsters from scratch in his lifetime and he is still building them for several corporations and individuals who commission him. I felt like me bringing him a Mustang to work on was really mickey mouse, but he is a super nice guy and said he would work it into his schedule. lt may take him two weeks, but I'm patient and feel confident I'll be getting work done by a more than competent person.

I take my Mustang to a local hot rod shop too. People there are very helpful and friendly. They have done the best work I've had in ANY shop. They were a bit slow as they were working on other projects too, so I hope you're flexible with their two week commitment.

I agree with 2nd Mustang, I got lucky getting the cage for my car done... it's year wait now because the guy is so busy. He has some cool projects, I need to swing by just to check stuff out...

The shop I took mine to isn't really a hotrod shop, although we have one of those here in town too. He builds only dragsters in all classes up to 8,000 HP top fuel monsters. He builds the chasis from scratch using tig welded chromoly tubing. He doesn't actually work on cars, but he just accepted mine because he's a nice guy and wants to help me out.

Im having the 66fastback mini tubed right now and while he's there I told him replace the rear frame rails(a little rust plus 40 years = replace them) but he builds custom cars and frame a friend of a friend talked me up to him and now custom work by a guy who loves his job at a jam up price also.
