~~~~Closed course, do not attempt on streets, medical staff awaiting~~~
I was walking from class to my car today and i guy came up and complimented me on my stang, we got to talking about aftermarket parts and he noted he just installed borla exhaust on his 01 M3. I was like well i just had some FRPP 3.73 put in lets go try em out! So we met at a light and pulled off the street till we saw there was no traffic in either lanes. We lined up and waited for the green, it turned - and i got a perfect dig from about a 2900 rpm drop and heard a mild chirp from my tires. His car got an okay dig and fell behind mine. For 1st and 2nd i widened the gap as he trailed behind to about a car's length away. in 3rd i gained some ground as he shifted into the next gear but then seemed to really get into his rpm powerband range and lessed the gap pretty substantially. As our lanes merged i was in front and he moved out into the passing lane (was legal and no on comming cars - straight road) at what i assume was about 70-75 he pulled up to to my fender and slowly started to pass me - around now at 80-85 (not sure cuz my speedo said almost 100 -speecal not hooked up) i was obviously in 4th while he made a perfect shift and picked up even more ground , now head to head. Then i saw what i knew was just ahead - a stop sign cuz the road ends at a T onto another road. I slowed down and he moved in front of me as we both broke.
Basically if we carried this past 82mph or so he would have won but was a valiant effort on my NPI's part. At the stop sign we stopped and he said "damn that thing has some grip!" i replied "not really about the same as your tires...it called a V8 " he smiled and waved and layed some rubber turing off onto the next road.
Cliff notes: took on an E46 w/ catback and woulda lost if we continued past 82mph or so
looked just like this
yeah well he had a stick and i had an auto, guy was about 20yrs old or so, so he couldn't have been the best driver in the word (not sure). I got the mods listed in my garage, still NA. Nothing insanly good - i've lost to an E46 M3 before i had my gears, TB + Plenum; but i knew him and he's a pretty good driver - lost pretty bad to 95mph.
Plus i gained a lot of ground at what i assume was his bad shift into 3rd (maybe 4th cuz it's a 6-speed)
ive beaten an 03 m5 i think it was im not sure the exact year though. It was at the 1/8th track near me lol. He is the dad of one of my friends and ive driven that car its insanely fast and i beat him a bunch of times with just the catback and intake only. We use to go down and just race each other over and over and i would always win he would run 9.4s to 9.5s. But then he put in the new clutch and kills me lol he runs an 8.6 now the old clutch was slipping thats why i won And those m3s are suppose to be quicker than the m5s older m5s that is.
He had to of been the coolest older person i have ever met to actually let me drive the car and tell me to run it hard and bang through all the gears and then he got in and drove it and went from 0-110-0 then back to 100 all on one straight away it was crazy those brakes are insane and the handling is awesome too
I drive a few of the brand new M3s around at work from time to time...and I must say, to really DRIVE those cars require some practice as the shifting is very sloppy (at least i like my MGW better ). Also yes their powerban is VERY high, that car feels like a civic until you reach way up there in the RPMs... yes i said it.
I think M3s are trash, very rattly, clunky for a $60,000 car. And I dont remember how much HP the new M3s are packing, but it sure does feel dirt sluggish to me.
That ain't f'n funny
I am glad no one was killed
Its one thing to jump off a light and contest up to the speed limit or just over but hitting triple digit speed on public roads during a contest is a real douchebag move
tripple digit? since when is 80mph on a 60mph (60mph on the double lane, 55 on the single)road tripple digit? And i guess if you consider a rural road leading to back country farms with NO one on it public then yeah it was stupid.
but im sure you've never gone 20 over, yup speed limit never to be broken, yup At least we were smart enough to wait til no one was on the road, plenty of asshats w/ ricers tempt me everyday but im not into weaving traffic - if someone gets in a crash i want it to be me alone - no iniscent grandma (who also drives 20 over on the freeway)
When I read the first post it said "over a 100" looks like you edited it.
Anyways, yes I have broke _many_ traffic laws. But you made a thread about your actions and that is the subject of debate here.
LOL, i didn't edit my speed; if you'd read the whole thing instead of pick things to judge, you'd see i said my speedo was aproaching 100........i dont have a speed cal on. Plus the last time im edited the post was 12 hours before you even read it.
"now at 80-85 (not sure cuz my speedo said almost 100 -speecal not hooked up)"
