Hi,

What kind of power gains can I expect by using 50% Torco unleaded 108 / 50% 94 gas on a basic Vortech V2 GT w/ 4" boost pipe (not aftercooled/intercooled) with timing bumped by 3 degrees?

Is there any risk? Weather is pretty cold here.

Thanks

Unless it's tuned for an octane rating that high I doubt you'll see much gain at all vs what it's currently running.

Even if I increase the timing?

I have no idea what type of gains to expect, but yeah, you could definately bump the timing up a little with that high of octane. With 3 degrees, my guess would be 10-20hp.

That is about right I have ran torco mach 104 with 93 octane gas, set my timing to shoot out mode amd take about .3 off of my 1/4 mile times.

Torco doesn't do sh1t. Put some xylene in your tank to get real results

They aren't talking about torco additives LOL Torco makes some of the best racing fuels on the market today, and they have a whole crap load of different blends

I use the Torco Mach accelerator and it does work. It's basically unleaded race gas in a can, something like 104 or 108 (IIRC).

There is a tuner/builder here in Texas, Manny at HPP, that swears by Torco additives. He was featured in a recent MM&FF article with his blue twin turbo Cobra. It puts down over 850 hp on pump gas and two cans of Torco to a full tank. I did the same and advanced my timing significantly with no knocks/pings. I put down an additional 25hp on my 125 shot. I think I could put even more timing than I did. Torco works.

Get ready to buy new exhaust because racing fuel will make your current stuff rot out.

Explain your reasoning behind that.

leaded racing fuel kills cats and 02 sensors. i'm assuming that's what he's getting at.

you can gain 10-15hp per degree of added timing as long as you don't add too much. i wouldn't run more than 19* with your setup and and the fuel blend.

Maybe so, but not all racing fuel is leaded. Only the top tiered octane, no?

i believe anything over 105 octane is leaded, but i'm not positive. and some of the unleaded race fuels contain ethonal. you need to be careful with gas containing ethonal because ethonal has a different stoich than regular gasoline, meaning a tune for the ethonal gas is needed.
