A friend wrecked his car 01GT about 3 months ago and bought it back from salvage, I got his PI heads, intake, cams, everything for FREE so I decided to put them on tonight, well not really. This will be my project for the next few weeks, I had the afternoon off so I got it tore down. I need to order some thicker head gaskets and I will be reusing my comp cams in the PI heads, what kinda power gain should I see?

Why do you need to use thicker gaskets, are you trying to offset the compression gain you get with the PI swap? If so, why? Ford's gaskets are fine.

I believe an NPI GT with the PI swap (and no other mods) puts down a couple RWHP more than a stock PI GT, probably because of the slightly higher compression.

I say send the PI heads out for a port and polish before you bolt them on.

Did you unbolt the passenger side cam gear before you took the pic?

How many miles were on the engine? Was there any real wear on the internals?

I have the vortech on my car and I am not sure if it will like the raised compression, although with my water injection it may make even more power. I did have the cam gears unbolted and the passenger side one is off the cam. I didnt have a puller to pull off the power steering pump pulley but I wanted to pull one head, but you cant.

Thats awesome, I wish I coudl do something like your car. We run the same times! I ran a 14.437 at 96 with O/R H, Cone Filter, and UDP's

Keep us posted. I did the headswap last summer and want some boost now, but am unsure if I can boost or not with this compression (about 10.5:1 now). Also, try searching the threads about which headgaskets to use- I think I remember reading about this. Good luck.

maybe 5-6 pounds would be ok with a conservative tune...but you should cut your compression down if your building your engine. Get some forged internals and lower compression to 8.4-8.5:1 and then you can do 20+ psi on pump gas.

What thickness head gasket should I use? I plan on boosting 10psi. I am not really sure where even to buy the gaskets since they dont have any purchase options on cometics website.

I've read 40-50? depending on the mods.
